Joe and Katie got married on the wettest day ever! This didn't stop the joy of them getting married!
It was just this misty rain in your face kind of spring day.
There were moments of downpours and moments of cold, but that just made for more fun memories!
It started with the gathering of the flowers. I told Katie that I only work with local- in season flowers, and she was all for it-as long as it was purple.
I grew the white and purple tulips, but I knew that I would need some more from some local farmers. The white-long stem branches in this photo are called spirea. My original plan was to use it in the outside hanging installation, but I wasn't able to use it inside the greenhouse because it just made a big mess. I didn't want it to be raining petals on them during the ceremony.
I started with gathering the tulips that I specifically grew for this wedding. Then I went to harvest spirea and lilacs from my neighbor. I then went north to Mifflintown to get the anemones, nigella, ranunculus, eucalyptus, orlaya and dusty miller from Phoebe at Wilding Hope Flowers. I just needed a few more ranunculus and stock from an Amish grower in Newburg.
I would have loved to put lilacs in the bride's wedding bouquet, but she was allergic to them, so I used them in the welcome sign.
We arrived at Historic Shady Lane in Manchester, (York) PA and set up in their greenhouse for the ceremony. It was supposed to be outside on this patio, but it rained all day! They have this cute little greenhouse that can be set up for the ceremony in case of rain.
We used forsythia greens, tulips, ranunculus and stock and used compostable agra-wool as the base. This is more of a sustainable option to use instead of floral foam.

tying the knot!
I've known the bride and her Mom since Katie was a little girl. She was even our flower girl in our wedding. It was a privilege and honor to do Katie's flowers for her wedding day.
The wedding was beautiful, and you could feel the love.
We then moved inside the reception tent, where it was very elegant and welcoming. I used all the local flowers on the head table, as well as for the bud vases.
Congratulations Joe and Katie- may you be blessed in your marriage!
You two are just so cute!
Thank you for trusting me in being a part of your day. Blessings! Heather
